Alappuzha Gets UNEP Recognition For Fighting Solid Waste

New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) Alappuzha is among five cities of the world whose efforts to fight the problem of solid waste have been recognised as success stories by the United Nations environment body UNEP. Besides Alappuzha, the other cities with a solid approach to waste are Osaka in Japan, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Malaysia’s Penang and Cajicá in Colombia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose the World Environment Day 2017 to launch a drive to address the mountains of trash piling up in streets and landfills across the country.
